The International Development & Community Organization (IDECO) lunched a transformative initiative to create and train a Civil Society Women's Group in Appayya District in Kumasi to empower women and enhance their role in community development. The training program focused on leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, enabling participants to build confidence and assert their presence in traditionally male-dominated spaces. Practical sessions on financial literacy and business management empowered women with the knowledge to initiate and sustain income-generating activities, fostering economic independence.
Advocacy training provided insights into human rights, gender equality, and effective policy engagement. Participants learned conflict resolution and dialogue facilitation techniques, preparing them to mediate disputes and promote social cohesion. Community project planning allowed women to design and implement development initiatives addressing health, education, and environmental challenges.
The program has had a profound impact on women, with many taking on leadership roles within their communities and becoming advocates for change and champions of gender equality. Income-generating activities initiated by the group have provided financial stability, enabling participants to support their families and invest in their futures.
