Nchotu Regina Akwanwi: Community Development Coordinator

Nchotu Regina Akwanui is a Cameroonian dynamic professional with over two decades of experience in strategic management, leadership, and community development. She holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the Pan-African Institute for Development - West Africa (PAIDWA) and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Modern Letters from the University of Yaoundé. Her career reflects a strong commitment to fostering sustainable development and empowering communities through innovative solutions.

As the Community Development Coordinator at the International Development and Community Organization (IDECO), Regina plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing programs that empower communities and drive sustainable development. Her responsibilities include leading initiatives aligned with IDECO’s mission to enhance livelihoods, foster social cohesion, and promote community-led growth. Regina develops and executes programs that address key challenges such as access to clean water, health education, and capacity building. She also conducts workshops and training sessions to empower women and youth with the skills and knowledge needed for personal and communal progress. Regina ensures active engagement and collaboration among community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to encourage ownership and sustainability of IDECO projects. By implementing strategies for monitoring and evaluating program impact, she ensures that objectives are met and resources are used efficiently. Leveraging her international experience, Regina represents IDECO at local and global forums, advocating for policies and partnerships that benefit the communities it serves.

Regina's professional experience is diverse and impactful. As General Manager of PRESCRAFT, a Presbyterian Handicraft Centre in Bamenda Cameroon, she excelled in overseeing production, marketing, and sales while establishing partnerships with local and international stakeholders. Under her leadership, she represented the institution on global platforms, attending events such as the Trade -Fair Fortnight in France and the World Trade Fair Conference in Italy. These experiences highlighted her ability to connect grassroots initiatives with global networks, amplifying the organization's impact.

Throughout her career, Regina has been actively involved in community development and capacity-building initiatives. She has facilitated workshops and training sessions for esteemed organizations such as UNICEF, COMINSUD, and GTZ, focusing on effective communication, HIV/AIDS prevention, women’s empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health. Her research on "The Role of Change Agents in Rural Development" highlights her commitment to addressing the unique needs of rural communities and empowering them to achieve sustainable growth.

In her role as Office Manager at Pelican Hotel in Bamenda, Cameroon, Regina demonstrated exceptional administrative skills and people management abilities, successfully overseeing staff supervision, inventory control, and data management to enhance operational efficiency. As Manager at AA SAT Cable Network, she further solidified her reputation as a capable leader by effectively managing personnel and resources. Beyond her professional roles, Regina excels in leadership, coaching, counseling, strategic planning, and mediation, guided by her strong ethical values of integrity and accountability, which ensure trust and transparency in every endeavor.
